Description
You asked for it and here it is!
Our beginner class has now got around 100 newbies into the craft - but many are keen to come back to take their skills to a new level.
In this class Josh is bringing a box to our paddock to be 'cut out'. This hive has seriously cross-combed so we are going to cut them out and re-home them into frames in a new box. This is your opportunity to learn about doing cut outs and collecting your own hives this way. If all goes well, we hope to do a re-queen and/or a hive split and varroa mite test.
Bring your own suit this time and be ready for two hours of power beekeeping skills!

- Notepad

What To Wear

About Josh Keating
Josh Keating is a hobbyist with interests in technology (Hamilton Hackerspace, 3D printing, electronics, drones/RC, fabrications, etc) and Beekeeping, among many others. He took up beekeeping in 2015 and in that time has built up to 5 hives (2 home built Top-Bar hives first, then 2 Langstroth), and has experience working with the Flow-Hive with other beekeepers. He built up his initial experience with a local mentor, with additional research online and in books, and with a lot of on-the-job learning with cut-outs (removals from standing structures – walls, trees, chimneys, etc.) and swarm captures. Josh has an open mind and believes there are many ways people can keep bees, but with sound fundamentals in mind.
